On January 24, the local police arrested the son of the renowned former national leg-spinner Abdul Qadir, Salman Qadir, following allegations of sexually assaulting a domestic worker. The police lodged a First Information Report (FIR) after the 21-year-old victim reported the incident, which allegedly took place at Salman’s farmhouse.
According to the FIR registered at the Barki Police Station, the victim was summoned early for work and was picked up by Salman Qadir at the main gate of a private housing society. She was then taken to his farmhouse where the alleged assault occurred. The police acted swiftly on an emergency call reported to helpline 15, leading to Salman’s arrest.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Cantt, Ikhlaq Ullah Tarar, detailed that the victim had been lured to the farmhouse under the guise of work. Following her arrival, she was forcibly assaulted. The case has been registered under the victim’s complaint, and Salman Qadir is currently under police custody for further investigation.
SP Tarar emphasized that there would be a zero-tolerance policy against individuals involved in the sexual exploitation of women and that no one is above the law. He assured those thorough investigations are underway and that the accused would be prosecuted as per legal standards.
Police authorities have also arranged for the victim to receive medical examinations and legal assistance. The investigative process is being meticulously carried out to ensure all aspects of the case are thoroughly examined before presenting the accused in court.
Salman Qadir is also known in Lahore for running a cricket academy and has a background as a former first-class cricketer. The police have reiterated their commitment to securing justice for the victim and upholding stringent measures against sexual offenses.
