Karachi: the vision of sindh government is to ensure all-round development of women in the province, particularly the deprived ones, and giving them rights according to Islamic teachings so that they were not discriminated.
Sindh government has made “a good” beginning in recent months by providing equal opportunities in all walks of life to women by executing some projects for their welfare, with budget of RS 11 million for current fiscal year 2003 —04, said provincial Minister For Women Development Dr saeeda Malik .
She said the decision to make the Minister in —charge of her department in the province ,was “ long overdue .it will have positive effects now and the women Development department execute more projects to help women , particularly those in the rural areas.
Dr saeeda Malik said Display centers would also be set up ,where good made by women will be purchased by the government directly to ensure good price , by marketing these products at national and international level .
Addressing a radio press conference on Sunday, the minister said Day Care Centers Were also being set up starting from Karachi for working women ,where they could leave their children. The government will provide facilities free at these centers .
She spoke of low literacy rate among women, who constiute 50 percent of the country ,s population, and observed it was very low in the rural areas _PPI
