DADU: Thousands of people from Sindh province, including women, children, students, teachers, activists of human rights organisations, social organisations and political parties have put their signatures against the Jirga system in Sindh.
A signature book placed at the Mehran University campus was soon filled with signatures of students and teachers and the varsity administration had to place many more books at the said campus as members of civil society and activists of several social and human rights organisations joined the signature campaign held under the aegis of the Women Action Forum, Sindh.
The signature book placed at the Liaquat Medical Universities of Jamshoro also bore thousands of signatures.
According to the Women Action Forum, more then 20,000 signatures were put against the age-old Jirga system.
