Sexual assault victim, family receiving threats

CHAKWAL,March 14,2005: The three persons, allegedly involved in a sexual assault on a 16-year-old girl, were threatening the girl and her family of dire consequences.

Tasleem Akhter and her daughter Kalsum Akhter, the victim of the assault, in a press conference on Sunday said: “they are threatening us of dire consequences and pressuring us to compromise and withdraw the Hadood Ordinance case against them.

The press conference that was held at District Resource Centre of Aurat Foundation Chakwal was also attended by District Councillor Rehana Babar Saleem and General Councillor Seemi Farhat.

Tasleem Akhter, resident of Village Kharli, recalled the four-month-old tragic incident when the main accused Hiatam Khan along with three co-accused Abdul Raoof, Malik Khan and Muhammad Yusuf, armed with automatic weapons, appeared on the village well and abducted Kalsum Akhter at gunpoint and kept in a nearby jungle where she was sexually assaulted for 15 days. She said later Kallar Kahar police recovered Kalsum and arrested all the accused.
