Semi-decomposed body of young married woman recovered

Karachi: A semi-decomposed body of a young married woman, who was apparently strangled to death, was recovered on Thursday from her home in the Nusrat Bhutto Colony in the limits of Peerabad police station.

Police said Kiran Bibi, 30, wife of Safdar Hussain, was apparently strangled to death and suspected she might have been killed by her husband, who was missing for the last couple of days.

Officials at Peerabad police station suspected that her husband, with whom the victim got second marriage but said that the motive and reasons behind her killing could only be ascertained after locating her missing husband.

Police officials said that Ghulam Mustafa, the owner of the house where the couple was living, informed them when he got foul stench emitting from the house and on his complaint police barged into the house where they found the body of the woman.

The deceased woman was strangled to death and a piece of rope used by the culprit was also found lying nearby. The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for legal formalities where according to the doctors; the deceased was killed at least three-to-four days back.

“The deceased was divorced by her first husband and married to one Safdar recently and had no children,” the police officials said.

“Her husband hailing from the North-West Frontier Province (NWFP) has been missing from the day when she was killed which suggests that he might have killed his wife and then fled.”

No case had been registered till the filing of this report but the police officials said that the victim’s husband would be booked in the murder case of his wife.

In a separate incident, at least a week old body of young man was found floating in the sea near Ghas Bander Gate, Birth No 18 of West Wharf in the limits of the Docks police station.

The Docks police said that the culprits might have killed the man and later threw his body into the sea. They said there were visible torture marks on the neck of the victim. The body of the deceased was shifted to the Edhi morgue, Sohrab Goth for identification after an autopsy at the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for identification.

Meanwhile, a young motorcyclist was killed when due to over-speeding, his motorbike rammed into an electric poll within the limits of Sharea Faisal police station. Police said that the young man who was around 30 years old was on his motorbike when his bike hit an electric poll on the Stadium Road. He was rushed to the hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. The body of the man was shifted to the morgue for identification.
