ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Abdul Hameed Dogar on Saturday taking suo motu notice directed the Sukkur regional police officer (RPO) to investigate the acid burning case of Maria Shah of Shikarpur. According to a press release, the CJP took the notice on a news item appeared in a local newspaper on Friday. Reportedly, Maria Shah was working in a clinic when the accused entered her room with acid in a glass. He threw acid at Shah’s face to disfigure her, as she had declined his marriage proposal. The CJP directed the RPO to personally investigate the case and depute Shikarpur district police officer to submit a report along with the action taken, to the Supreme Court on January 27.
