Remand of schoolteacher’s rape accused extended

Karachi: A judicial magistrate on Friday extended for four days the remand of two sweepers accused of raping a teacher of a private school.

Judicial Magistrate South Hatim Aziz Solangi also allowed under Section 164 of the CrPC the recording of a statement of the schoolteacher.

The deputy district public prosecutor, Syed Shamim Ahmed, had earlier moved an application seeking permission for recording the victim’s statement.

Both the accused, Loius Pervaiz and Waqar Masih, along with the kitchen knife they used to threaten the schoolteacher as they raped her, were produced in the court.

The prosecution sought more time for the recovery of other things, including mobile phones. He also prayed that the accused be given into physical custody of police for further interrogation.

According to the prosecution, the teacher, who lives alone, called a sweeper of her school to do the cleaning at her home. Louis Pervaiz, along with Waqar Masih, came to her house in PECHS on Sunday. They allegedly overpowered the woman with a kitchen knife and committed rape.
