THIS is apropos of the letter, “Realities for Sindhi women” (Feb 2). Women living in rural Sindh are being faced with a plethora of issues in the aftermath of the floods.
Male dominance and restrictions on women`s education in rural Sindh have already been hindrances to women`s development, but matters regarding their health and childbirth deaths are significant causes that affect their everyday life. No effective medicines at reasonable prices are available for them.
Lack of medical facilities during childbirth creates a vacuum in the lives of these women. Besides, rape and injustice make the lives of many rural Sindhi women wretched.
The floods last year made lives worse for them. The female ministers in Sindh should come to the help of their sisters and support them.
These women should be provided micro-credit loans to improve their lives. They should also be trained in a field that interests them.
