A man suspected to have criminally assaulted a six-year-old girl was arrested on Thursday on the complaint of her father.

The complainant told the Mithi police that the suspect had taken her away with him while she was playing outside the family’s home on Wednesday. He then subjected her to criminal assault and escaped, leaving her unconscious, the complainant claimed.

An FIR against the suspect was registered and he was arrested. The police said that the girl was under treatment and her medical examinations were being performed.

SSP Sumair Channa visited her in the hospital and ordered an inquiry into the matter.
