Raped woman seeks CM, CJ’s help for justice

BAHAWALPUR: A man raped his widow sister-in-law (brother’s wife) and later produced a fake marriage contract (Nikkah namma) to prove that she was his legal wife with the connivance of a local Nikkah Khawan and the police.

Widow Aasia Bibi, along with her four children, has been forced to go door-to-door in search for justice.
According to the details, Aasia Bibi, a resident of Basti Bahaar Borana, Khanqa Sharif was married off to Muhammad Akhtar and she had four children from the wedlock. Unfortunately her husband passed away four years ago, leaving her alone to look after his four children.

Talking to the media Aasia Bibi told that her brother-in-law Hafiz Zahoor Ahmad proposed her but she refused for the future of her children. Following her refusal, her in-laws took away property, business and cattle from her and started treating her badly.

She recalled that on June 4, 2013 at about 2am her brother-in-law Hafiz Zahoor came to her room, having a pistol in his hands and asked her to stay quiet or else he will shot her and raped her. She claimed that she brought the incident into the notice of her father-in-law but he least bothered to listen to her.

Aasia claimed that she along with her brother Aslam approached the Sama Satta Police for registration of a case but to no avail. However, later the police registered a case on the orders of court but colluded with the criminals.

The police did not arrest them, providing her in-laws with time to get prepared a fake marriage contract (Nikkah Namma) to drop the rape charges.

She claimed that accused Hafiz Zahoor with the involvement of the police and gave Nikkah Khawan Molvi Azam Rs200,000 in bribe to prove that he had solemnised and registered her Nikkah with the accused.

She categorically denied the nikkah claim of the accused, saying that she was still widow of Muhammad Akhtar.

Meanwhile, her brother and other family members told the media that the drama of nikkah was authored by DSP Rao Qasim and Investigation officer to save skin of the accused.

Aasia claimed that her in-laws wanted to deprive her and her children of their right and they staged the drama to usurp the property and other assets of her husband.

She appealed to the Punjab Chief Minister, the Chief Justice and the Punjab IG Police to take notice of the injustice and save her children’s right from the accused.
