KARACHI – In a heartbreaking incident, a pregnant woman was shot and killed by robbers in the Faqeera Goth area of Karachi’s SITE Super Highway.
The victim, Saima, was a mother of three and was expecting her fourth child. According to details, the incident occurred when Saima’s husband, Irfan, was taking her to the hospital. Two armed men on a motorcycle intercepted them in an apparent robbery attempt. During the robbery, the assailants snatched Irfan’s mobile phone and tried to take Saima’s purse as well.
In a desperate act of resistance, Saima pushed one of the robbers, causing him to fall off the bike. Enraged, the robbers opened fire, fatally injuring her before fleeing the scene.
In a tearful conversation with local media, Irfan recounted the tragedy, struggling to hold back tears as he said, “My wife was pregnant. We have three small children — who will take care of them now?” He appealed to senior authorities for justice, urging them to arrest the culprits and ensure they receive the punishment they deserve. The Rescue team rushed to the site and shifted the woman identified as Saima to hospital. The Police team have started search operation to trace the culprits.
This tragic incident marks yet another grim addition to the rising number of fatal robberies in Karachi. So far this year, 26 people have lost their lives to street crime involving firearms in the city.
Meanwhile, a young motorcyclist was killed in a road accident that occurred near Steel Mill More area of Karachi, tv channels quoting Rescue sources reported on Friday. According to details, a rashly driven trailer hit the two-wheeler passing through Steel Mill More area. As a result, ill-fated young man died on the spot. The trailer’s driver managed to escape from the scene. The Rescue team rushed to the site and shifted the body to hospital. Police team also reached the spot and started search for the driver of the heavy vehicle.
