Postmortem of women

By: PRINCE INAYAT ALI KHAN,

Due to shortage of doctors in government hospitals and unavailability of lady doctors during night shifts, the police and family of any slain women faces huge difficulty regarding postmortem. In government hospitals lady doctors refuse to do postmortem at night, they say the government has gives them immunity. There is no facility at the town level. In fact several small government hospitals also have no morgues, so the doctors are compelled to go on D.H.Qs for postmortem because only they have the facility. Due to a lack of funds, the expenses of postmortem are born by the family of the victim. Dead bodies remain in dead houses or in the corridor of hospitals for up to 36 hours. Doctors blame the police and police blames the doctors for delays in the postmortem. The government should take action against whosoever delays this process.
