FAISALABAD (August 25 2008): Gulberg Police have registered a case against six policemen including ASI Muhammad Shabir for their alleged involvement in torturing the mother of Cricket bookie, Muhammad Shahid to death.

As per detail, six Policemen of Razabad police raided Shahid’s house arrested him and six others over a monetary row and started torturing him severely. Shahid’s mother could not bear the scene and tried to stop them from beating his son.

The policemen however did not stop and pushed her forcefully. Consequently, the woman received fatal injury and died instantly. The family and relatives of the deceased took the woman’s body to Kutchery Bazaar Chowk to protest against brutal Police action.

They blocked the road for two hours protested in front of the City District government’s office. Later, Gulberg DSP, Sheikh Amir reached the spot assured of releasing Shahid and taking strict action against the police officials involved in the incident. A case under 322 PPC was registered in this regard.
