Police arrest guard over torturing female doctor

Rawalpindi-Police have arrested security guard of a private housing society for his alleged involvement in torturing and abusing a female neurosurgeon of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), informed sources on Friday.

The accused has been identified as Basharat, against whom a case was also registered under section 354 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) with Police Station (PS) Airport, they added.

A police spokesman also confirmed the occurrence of incident and arrest of an accused security guard.

According to sources, a female doctor lodged a complaint with officials of PS Airport that she is serving as resident neurosurgeon in Surgery Department of PIMS since 2017. She told she is temporarily staying in Safari Villas Club and is searching for a suitable accommodation. She told police she was a cardiac patient and her condition started deteriorating last night on which she called her friend to take her to hospital.

The applicant told police she along with her friend was going to hospital in a car when she started feeling nauseous and asked her friend to stop car along with roadside. “I stepped down from car and rushed towards a dark street for vomiting when some security  guards arrived there on motorcycles and started misbehaving with me,” shetold police adding that one of the guards also used abusive language against her and her mother.

Upon resistance, she alleged that the guard slapped her in face and ripped her clothes. She also alleged the guards accused her and her friend of consuming some intoxicating stuff.

After committing crime, the guards managed to escape from the scene, she added.

The female doctor appealed police to register case against the accused and arrest them.

Police filed a case and arrested one security guard namely Bisharat, they said.

A police spokesman SI Sajjad Ul Hassan told media that CPO Muhammad Ahsan Younas took immediate notice of the incident after a video went viral on social media. He said CPO sent a police team on crime scene to rescue lady doctor and to arrest the guards. He added a guard was held by police while further investigation was underway.
