Plea to protect women’s rights

QUETTA – Participants in a meeting demanded that the government respected the rights of women enshrined in the United Nations charter.

The demand was made at a function on the International Day of Human Rights that was jointly organized by Quetta Press Club, the UNHCR and the Aurat Foundation.

Younus Khalid of the Aurat Foundation, Muhammad Ali of the UNHCR and Ikram Ahmed of the Balochistan Union of Journalists said that women were subjected to torture, abuse criminal assaults, trafficking, sex harassment and discrimination in society.
