PHC summons brother of rape victim on Dec 1

PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court (PHC) Chief Justice Tariq Pervez Khan on Monday 1, the brother of an 11-year old girl, who was allegedly sexually assaulted by her stepfather. The chief justice on November 21 cancelled the bail application of Advocate Sayatullah who allegedly raped his stepdaughter Sadia, and took suo moto notice by converting the issue into a human rights case and summoning the girl’s mother for November 27.

On Monday, Justice Khan recorded the statements of the girl and her mother, Farkhanda, at his chamber in the presence of human rights activist Mussarat Hillali to make him pursue the case on behalf of the girl.Hilali said the chief justice was concerned over the girl’s appearance and that he summoned her brother Imran, with directions to the Mughulpura, Lahore SSP to ensure his presence in the court on December 1.
