PESHAWAR, Dec 10: Several government girls’ school

PESHAWAR, Dec 10: Several government girls’ schools have received letters threatening that they would be blown up if their staff does not observe purdah. A police official told Dawn that schools in Ghari, Banda and Ahmed Shah villages had received the letters.

“Most of the students even in lower classes have already started wearing veil to avoid an attack by militants,” he said.

He said the area fell under Matni police but it was close to the tribal region and police were unable to patrol it regularly.

The letters did not carry the name of any organisation.

A Matni police official said nobody could be taken into custody on the basis of anonymous letters.
