Notice of thrashing woman in public taken by Sindh govt

SUKKUR: The Sindh government took notice of an incident of public thrashing of a woman by her husband in Sukkur a day earlier and ordered the SSP Sukkur on Monday to submit a report within 24 hours.

The SSP Fida Shah stated that a police team conducted a raid and arrested the accused from Pano Aqil. He said the matter was being investigated on priority basis.

The SSP said in her statement the victim said she suffers from mysterious fits and loses consciousness when the fits occur. Fida Shah said her arrested husband, narrating the same story, stated that while returning home in a wagon she had a stroke of fits and refused to go home.

“This compelled me to drag her out of the wagon and thrash her to force her for returning home,” the SSP quoted the husband as saying and added that he was not satisfied with the statement.

He said the inhuman incident was being investigated and added that conclusion could be reached after a thorough probe and medical examination of the woman.
