GILGIT – There is no women candidate in the election to the Northern Areas Ligislative Council and local bodies, the final list of candidates shows.
The number of women voters in the regions is around 250,000. There are five reserved seats for women in the NALC, for which indirect election would be held. In the district councils, there are 10 seats reserved for women.The women councilors, elected on reseved seats do not have financial and administrative powers.
MEDIA CELL: The Gilgit Union of jounalists on September 23, asked the Northern Areas Election Commision and administration to set up an information center for election.
