Newly-weds killed for ‘honor’

GUJRAT: A newly-wed couple was killed over an honor-related issue in Charanwala village of Kharian Saddar police precincts on Tuesday.

Police said 30-year-old Abdul Jabbar and 25-year-old Saima had contracted a marriage of their choice. The couple shifted to a Kharian village, as the woman married the man against the will of her parents.

However, both were stabbed to death by unidentified suspects at a farmhouse in the village.

Police reached the spot and gathered evidence, while a Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) team also arrived to collect forensic evidence. Police said the bodies were transferred to Kharian Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for autopsy. Police are yet to register a case.
