Newly-wed woman seeks protection

KHAIRPUR: A newly-wed woman has appealed to higher authorities to provide her security after the couple was arrested by the Ahmedpur Police, Khairpur. Police sent Momal and Gul Sher Lakho behind the bars on charges that Momal had been abducted by the accused Gul Sher from village Bodli Mahesar. Momal denied the charges and said she had left her home and had a love marriage with her second cousin Gul Sher in the court of Faiz Gunj, but the police had arrested them illegally. She said her parents were forcibly getting her married with an aged man but she was interested in marrying her second cousin. She said her family members planned to kill her under Karo-Kari.
