Minister vows to end karo-kari, vani traditions

Karachi, July 10 (PPI): Sindh Minister for Women Development Ms Tauqir Fatima Bhutto has directed Shikarpur police to conduct an investigation into the vani of two minor sisters through a jirga.

Taking notice of vani of two minor sisters, 10-year-old Noor Jahan and 11-year-old Waziran through a jirga held in Ratodero, she said that the Sindh government would abolish notorious traditions of karo-kari and vani in the province.

The minister directed DPO Shikarpur to conduct inquiry into the matter without being impressed by the influential. Tauqir Fatima said that Women Development Department is taking all-out steps to end violence against women in rural and urban areas of Sindh. She said that powers of Women Welfare Centers are being extended.
