Meet Tabassum – the first female deaf barista

KARACHI: Deaf Reach, a programme of Family Educational Services Foundation (FESF), celebrated the Deaf Awareness Week from 24th to 29th September by inducting Tabassum, a highly talented individual, into the World of Coffee.

Well known coffee houses including MOCCA, Kookie, Del Frio, Espresso, FLOC, Esquires and Coffee Waghera graciously invited her into their venues, teaching Tabassum the skills that go behind making the perfect cup of coffee.

Now a trained barista, Tabassum hopes to set an example by showing the world that deaf people can do anything except hear! Stay tuned to meet Tabassum in one of your favourite cafes soon as a full-time barista.

The Deaf Reach programme is the only branch network of schools across Pakistan providing a full circle solution from education to skills training, community inclusion and job placement to empower the Deaf community.
