Man, woman killed in ‘honour killing’

JHANG: In what seems to be an honour killing case, a woman and her friend were allegedly shot dead in Jhang’s Saddar area on Sunday, Express News reported.

A police official said that 24-year-old *F had friendship with 30-year-old I*. He added they used to meet at different places while their families did not know about their relationship.

He added that on the day of the incident, the woman went to her friend’s house to meet him. In the meantime, the woman’s father and other family members came to know about the matter.

“In a fit of rage, the woman’s father Iqbal, uncle Yaseen and two cousins rushed to the spot and opened fire on them,” he said, adding that as a result, both victims died on the spot.

The police said that after conducting initial investigations and recording statements of the witnesses, it transpired that the woman’s family members had allegedly found the couple in an objectionable condition therefore they killed them.

However, a case had been registered against the culprits and raids were being conducted to arrest them.

Earlier, a man gunned down a person whom he suspected of being his wife’s friend in Shah Sadar Din Town, Dera Ghazi Khan.

The police said that Irshad, a resident of Munawarabad, had suspected that his wife M* had illicit relations with an area shopkeeper Sajjad Bhatti.

In a fit of rage, Irshad and his brother Fayyaz Hussain barged into Sajjad’s shop and allegedly opened fire on him. As a result, he was killed on the spot. The accused also opened fire on his wife and injured her.
