Man throws acid on woman in Chaklala

RAWALPINDI: A woman suffered acid attack near her residence in Chaklala Scheme 3 for refusing advances of a man in the neighbourhood.

A motorbike rider intercepted her in the narrow lane of the low-income area where she lived with her brother-in-law and threw acid on her face. The victim’s eyes were also affected.

The 42-year-old victim, a mother of three, had come to Rawalpindi from Kasur to earn a living for her children. She was living with her brother-in-law Irshad Masih, a sanitary worker in a government office.

Masih told the Airport police that his sister-in-law worked as a domestic servant in houses. A man in the neighbourhood, Liaquat, was trying to develop a relationship with the victim, but she kept refusing his advances. Liaquat too belonged to Kasur. The suspect, on Wednesday, Masih said, intercepted the victim and threw acid on her. Part of her face and eyes were affected in the attack, according to doctors.
