A judicial magistrate on Tuesday remanded a man in judicial custody in case pertaining to an attempt to kill his wife by setting her on fire.
The investigating officer of the case brought suspect Rab Rekhiyou before the judicial magistrate (West) and sought an extension in his physical remand for further interrogation.
He informed the court that the case was registered against the suspect on June 26 on the complaint of his wife, who said she left her husband’s house and moved to her father’s residence after he assaulted her.
The IO informed the court that her husband came to her house and while she was asleep, attempted to kill her by pouring petrol on her and setting her on fire. She was rescued by her brother, he added.
He requested the court to extend the physical custody of the suspect till July 12 as he was needed to be interrogated.
However, the court rejected the request and sent the suspect to prison on judicial custody and directed the IO to submit an interim challan within the stipulate period.
A case was registered at the Saeedabad police station under Section 324 (attempted murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
