Yet another case of ‘honour’ killing was reported in the city on Monday as a 25-year-old man was stabbed to death in Korangi’s Chakra Goth area.
Zaman Town SHO Malik Ashfaq said the police was informed by area residents about presence of a body inside an under-construction building at Chakra Goth. He said a police party immediately attended the scene and shifted the body to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for an autopsy.
A medico-legal examiner in his report confirmed that the deceased was subjected to torture, and stabbed with a sharp object on his head which proved fatal, he added. Sharing more details, the SHO said the victim’s relatives had reached the hospital before the post-mortem examination. The deceased was identified as Nazeer son of Shah Nawaz, he added.
He said the victim’s relatives told police that he had contracted love marriage with a girl in District Naushahro Feroze three months ago, and the couple had moved to Karachi. They told the police that the girl’s family had shot dead Nazeer’s elder brother at Naushahro Feroz a few days after their marriage, and later they were trying to locate Nazeer, the official said.
The SHO said the Nazeer’s elder brother murder case had been registered at a police station in Naushahro Feroze against his brothers-in-law, and police was suspecting involvement of his brother’s murderers in Nazeer’s killing too. The body had been handed over the family for burial, he added.
