Man kills wife, sister-in-law outside Tehsil courts

JARANWALA: A man kills wife and sister-in-law outside the Tehsil courts on Wednesday.

An ex-soldier, Najabat Ali, of Chak 534/GB had contracted second marriage with Najma Bibi of the village and the couple had five children from the wedlock. Later, the relations between the couple became inimical and Najma filed a suit of dissolution of marriage, maintenance and recovery of dowry from her husband Najabat Ali before the Family Court Judge Ahmad Waqas.

On the day of the incident, both the parties appeared in the court. After adjournment, when Najma Bibi and her sister Mehran Bibi came out of the Tehsil courts gate, Najabat Ali opened fire on them. As a result, they were injured seriously. They were shifted to a hospital where they succumbed to injuries. Head Constable Riasat Ali, who was present at the gate, overpowered the accused and handed him over to the police.

Meanwhile, the Jaranwala Bar Association in its meeting chaired by bar president Syed Mazhar Hussain Shah condemned the incident and said that the incident took place due to the negligence and defective security arrangements of the tehsil administration. The meeting held the SP, the DSP and the city SHO responsible.

It demanded the chief minister, the LHC chief justice and the IGP take action against the officers responsible for the incident. The lawyers announced to observe a strike against the lawlessness today (Thursday).
