Man kills wife over family dispute

A man allegedly hanged his wife to death in the Sacchal area on Sunday. In another incident, a worker was killed apparently over personal enmity in Shah Latif Town.

The body of a woman was found in a house located in Sikandar Goth within the limits of the Sacchal police station. Upon receiving the information, police and rescue workers reached the property and transported the casualty to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where the deceased woman was identified as Zarina Khatoon. Citing initial investigations, the police said the victim’s husband, Sajjad, was responsible for the murder who hanged his wife to death over a family dispute. Police said the suspect escaped after committing the crime and a case had been registered.

In the other incident, a man was shot dead by unidentified persons at Yousuf Arfani Goth in Shah Latif Town. Police reached the scene to inquire into the incident. The deceased man was later identified as 38-year-old Sajjad Ali. Police said the victim worked in New Karachi and used to supply pieces of dry bread to buffalo enclosures.

According to police, Ali had gone to a buffalo enclosure with his colleague to supply pieces of dry bread at night when he was shot and injured in a truck. After the firing, the truck collided with an electric pole.

The injured man was rushed to a private hospital located on Stadium Road where doctors confirmed his death. The body was then shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for an autopsy. Police seized an empty shell of a 9mm pistol from the crime scene. They said the incident appeared to be a result of personal enmity. Further investigations are under way.
