Man kills wife, daughter for ‘honour’

BAHAWALPUR: At least 14 persons including seven women and two children were killed and another eight injured in different incidents of honour killing, enmity and road mishaps over the past 48 hours.

According to details, in Sargodha a callous man killed his wife and young daughter on suspicion of having bad character here the other night. As per reports, Umer Hayat, a resident of village 171/NB doubted that his wife 45-year-old Rasoolan Bibi and 18-year-old daughter Robina had developed illicit relations with someone(s). He attacked both the woman and his daughter with a hoe and murdered them on the spot.

Later killer called the local police and surrendered himself to the police. The Shah Nickdar Police have registered a double murder case against the culprit.

In another, a youth was bludgeoned to death by unidentified accused and amputated his male organ. As per details, 25-year-old Shafique was working in switch manufacturing factory at Hathi Chowk in the remit of Urban Area Police. Meanwhile, unidentified accused assaulted him with bricks and brutally murdered him. The accused also chopped off sensitive parts from the dead body and fled away. The police have launched investigation into the incident.

In Jhang, a woman with the connivance of her paramour killed her husband. As per details, 29-year-old Atyia Bibi, wife of Haq Nawaz developed illicit relations with 22-year-old Nasir, nephew of her husband. She along with Nasir planned to remove Haq Nawaz from their way. They mixed some intoxicants in his food and when he fell unconscious they strangulated him. The Satellite Town Police have registered a case against Attia and Nasir on the application of deceased’s brother Rab Nawaz.

In another horrible road mishap which happened on Jhang-Chiniot Road claimed two lives. Reportedly, Liaqat Ali, son of Talib Hussain and his sister Naik Bibi, residents of Chak 228/JB were returning from Chenab Nagar on a bike. When they reached near Bhuwana, a speeding passenger bus (JG-7575) coming from Jhang side crushed both the motorcycle riders to death on the spot. Due to severity of the incident, the pieces of the dead bodies scattered on the road. The police have registered a case against the runaway driver.

Similarly, a disappointed young man committed suicide. As per details, one Shehbaz, son of Noor, a resident of Thatha Jhanb often quarrelled with his parents over petty family issues. The other night, he again quarrelled with his parents at which flared up and committed suicide by shooting himself up. After autopsy the police handed over the body to the family.

In yet another incident that took place in Chak 209/JB, man namely Tarar gunned down his wife. As per details, Sajida Bibi, wife of Jaffar demanded divorce from her husband at which he flared up and opened indiscriminate firing, killing her on the spot. The police have registered a case against culprit.

Meanwhile, a four-year-old boy drowned in a pound. Four-year-old Anees, son of Javed Mirjana, a resident of Chak 269 was playing cricket with his friends when the ball fell into the nearby pound.
The boy, unaware of depth, entered the pond to bring the ball but drowned. He was the alone son of his parents. In yet another mishap which took place on Jhang-Sargodha Road near Morr Mandi a speeding bus claimed two lives.

According to reports, Wajidul Hassan, his wife Razia Bibi, seven-year-old son Ehtisham and five-year-old daughter Kajal were going on a bike. When they reached near Morr Mandi bus stop, a speeding passenger bus coming from Jhang side hit the bike. As result Wajidul Hassan and his wife Razia Bibi died on the spot while his son and daughter sustained serious injuries and were admitted to DHQ hospital in serious condition.

In Sheikhupura, a Class 9th student was killed in crossfire between two groups of pigeon fanciers over flying birds Sagian locality. The Factory Area Police have started investigation against Imran, Bilal and others.

In another incident a man axed to death his wife in Kot Abdul Maalik locality. According to details, Nawaz quarrelled with his wife Sakina Bibi over a petty family issue and after exchanging harsh words, he axed her to death. In Bahawalpur, a 50-year-old woman died of injuries and her husband and son were injured critically in collision between motorcycle and rickshaw here the other day.

According to details, Muhammad, a resident of Dehrki near Rahim Yar Khan was on the way along with his wife 50-year-old Mai Shahzadi and son on a bike to attend a wedding. Meanwhile, a motorcycle rickshaw coming from the opposite direction collided with the bike due to which all the three sustained critically wounds. They were taken to hospital immediately where Mai Shahzadi breathed her last.
