Man kills wife, 2 in-laws over domestic dispute
A man shot and killed his wife, mother-in-law and sister-in-law outside his house in Sultanpura area of Sheikhupura.
The incident occurred after an ongoing domestic dispute escalated when the women arrived to reconcile the matter. The suspect, identified as Irfan Sheikh, had been in conflict with his wife, Kiran, four days prior to the incident. Following the dispute, Kiran had left the house and gone to her parents’ home in Lahore.
When her mother and sister accompanied her to Irfan’s house in an attempt to mediate, Irfan refused to let them enter and opened fire on the three women.
Kiran, her mother Nagina, and her sister Humaira were critically wounded, with Kiran and her mother dying at the scene.
Humaira was rushed to the DHQ Hospital by rescue personnel but succumbed to her injuries shortly after. SHO Umar Shiraz Ghumman said Irfan had married Kiran 15 years ago in a love marriage. The couple had five children, including two sons and three daughters.
At the time of her death, Kiran was six months pregnant. The woman’s family revealed that Irfan had been involved in gambling, substance abuse and extramarital affairs for the past few years, which led to frequent arguments between the couple. Kiran had repeatedly tried to stop him, but Irfan responded with verbal abuse and violence.
Four days before the murders, Kiran had fled to her parents’ home after being subjected to physical abuse. Her mother, Nagina, had called Irfan to attempt a reconciliation, but he refused and threatened to kill them if they returned. Despite the warning, Kiran, along with her mother and sister, went to Irfan’s house on Saturday, where he shot them as soon as they arrived.
