Man kills daughter’s brother-in-law

KARACHI: A security guard of a local church killed a 35-year-old man on Monday, while three other people, including another security guard, were found dead in various parts of the city.

The deceased, Patrus Masih, was a resident of Ayub Goth and an employee of the Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC). According to the police, the accused, Sabir Masih, alleged that the deceased, along with his younger brother, Saman, had raped his daughter. Sabir claimed that his daughter, Saima, was in love with Saman and that he, along with Patrus, had raped her a year and a half ago. After the incident, Saima and Saman got married but the marriage was not a happy one. A few days back, Saima had returned to her father’s house and when Patrus and Saman came to take her back, she refused to accompany them.

According to the inquiry officer, Chaudhry Amir, the deceased had come to talk to Sabir about this issue and Sabir, after rendering him unconscious by slipping sleeping pills into his tea, stabbed him to death and disposed of his body on the back side of the church, located on Fatima Jinnah Road, within the jurisdiction of the Frere Police Station.

The deceased was married and his wife is seven months pregnant. The murder weapon was also recovered from Sabir’s possession and the police have registered FIR No. 178/08.
