Man killed by girlfriend’s family

KARACHI: A partially burnt body of a young man, supposedly killed by his girlfriend’s family, was found from a car on Wednesday morning within the limits of the Rizvia police station.

As per details, the man was identified as Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, 28, son of Mohammad Siddiqui, a part-time model who had worked in some advertisements. He had been receiving threats from a person named Asad, an elder brother of his girlfriend and police officials suspected that he along with some others first strangled him to death with the seat belt and then set the car on fire.

According to initial investigations, the victim had borrowed a car from his friend and he went to Nazimabad saying that he was going to settle the matter with his girlfriend’s family whose brothers had been threatening him for severing ties with their sister. Police have registered an FIR against the accused on the complaint of the elder brother of the deceased.

Separately, police booked an estate agent who fled after shooting his second wife, mother of eight, at their residence in Faqir Colony, Sector 10, Orangi Town in the limits of Mominabad police station over a domestic dispute.

The deceased woman was identified as Parveen, who married Akbar Ali after being divorced by her first husband. Police officials said that Parveen and Ali were sitting inside their house when he was infuriated over demands of money from his wife and shot her with his pistol. The woman received a single, fatal bullet in her left eye and died on the spot. She reportedly had seven children from her first husband and a six-month girl from Akbar Ali.
