Man held for torturing wife

RAWALPINDI: A man in Rawalpindi’s Naseerabad area has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his wife and mother-in-law and threatening to set them on fire. According to police, the incident took place in Madina Colony on Misryal Road. The victim, Saadia, reported that a minor argument with her husband, Tanveer Akhtar, escalated into physical violence. He allegedly beat both her and her visiting mother, then brought out kerosene oil and threatened to burn them alive. The women managed to lock them-selves in a room and called the police emergency helpline (15) for help. Police arrived promptly, rescued the women, and arrested the accused. Potohar SP Talha Waheed stated that a case has been registered based on the victim’s complaint, and the suspect has been taken into custody. “Violence against women and children is intolerable. The accused will be prosecuted with solid evidence to ensure he receives due punishment,” he added.
