LHC disposes of woman’s murder case

Lahore: Lahore High Court has disposed of a notice of poisoning of a woman and alleged rape in Gujrat as a complete police report of the case has been submitted before trial court.

One Ms Sobia Amaan submitted an application with LHC Complaint Cell that her friend Sofia Safdar was subjected to sexual harassment by her father, Safdar and she told her mother, brother and grandmother many times but nobody trusted her. She had to leave her house and live in Gulshan Ravi, Lahore.

Meanwhile, her many relatives contacted her and assured her that this would never happen again, the complainant said. On May 30, 2013, Sofia returned home following the assurance by her family but on June 2 she was poisoned to death by her family, the complainant said.

After LHC Complaint Cell took cognizance of the matter on administrative side, the Gujrat district and sessions judge submitted that Sofia Safdar was killed by her brother Adeel Safdar due to her alleged immoral and suspicious activities and a case had been registered against the said murderer at Gujrat Sadr police station. After exhumation of the body, postmortem report was also submitted.

The sessions judge concluded that the allegation regarding sexual relations of Sofia’s father with her were not proved and the applicant had twisted the story just to create sensation.

On the directions of LHC Complaint Cell, now the post mortem report and police report against the accused have been submitted in the court of the additional district and sessions judge concerned.
