KP govt launches Social Health Protection project

PESHAWAR – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has launched Social Health Protection Programme through a Micro Health Insurance in four districts of the province with the financial support of German government through KFW Bank.

In this regard, Secretary Health Mushtaq Jadoon signed an agreement with the State Life Insurance Corporation Pakistan for implementing a social health protection scheme in four districts of the province here at the Health Secretariat Peshawar on Monday.

Giving a detail presentation of the project, the project director Dr Riaz Tanoli said that the Social Health Protection Programme first phase is starting from four districts of the province, including Mardan, Malakand, Chitral and Kohat, adding the programme duration will be five years while it total cost is Rs1399.

165 million as foreign funding (KFW) Rs1233.

256 million while KP government will contribute Rs165.

900 million.

He further said that the objective of the programme is to improve the health status of the target population through increasing access to quality health services and to reduce poverty through reduction of out of pocket payments for health expenditures.

Students condemn blasphemous caricatures

Alhamdia Students Peshawar (ASP) have marched a protest rally against the publication of sacrilegious caricatures in French magazine Charlie Hebdo here on Monday.

Hundreds of protesters marched from Saddar to Peshawar Press Club under the leadership of ASP Ameer Huzaifa and Junaid Khan.

The rally was attended by students from various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and religious leaders, who were chanting slogans against the French government and holding placards inscribed with anti-France slogans.

While addressing the charged demonstrators, Huzaifa expressed said that let there be no doubt that protecting the sanctity of Holy Prophet (SAW) is the duty of every Muslim and no sacrifice will be greater than this.

He further said that if the French government and European Countries can stand by the propagators of hatred and abhorrence; then why Muslims Muslim countries are not raise voice for the preacher of love and affection, Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH).

The protesters on this occasion made it clear that hurting emotions of world Muslims in the name of freedom of expression would no longer be tolerated.
