KARACHI: Justice Rana M. Shamim of the High Court of Sindh (SHC), taking suo moto notice of the failure of the Frere police in handing over the custody of two children to their mother, issued Thursday a show-cause notice to the SHO of the Frere police.
According to details, Ms Ambreen Fatima filed a case for custody of her children – a boy and a girl – and the court ordered the Frere police to deliver the children to the residence of the applicant. However, the police failed to comply with the order and the father/respondent, Adnan Hussain, went into hiding with the two children.
The SHC also summoned former CCPO, now IGP Sindh, Azhar Ali Farooqui to appear and explain the conduct of the errant policemen, but, the respondent has not been traced yet.
Today, the bench issued a show-cause notice to the SHO of Frere police asking why the contempt of court proceedings have not been initiated against the respondent for failing to comply with court orders.
The court fixed January 18 as the next date of hearing.
