KARACHI (APP) – Sindh Population and Women Development Department Minister, Ms Nadira Panjwani has stressed the need for continuation of such projects and programme by United Nation Development Programme (UNDP) in Sindh province that helps in developing the capacity building of institutions.

This she observed during the meeting with a two-member delegation of UNDP consultants led by Ms. Seemi Kamal, which met her at her office here Wednesday.

Ms. Nadira Panjwani said Women Development Department would extend every cooperation and support to any programme and project of UNDP that will help remove poverty, illiteracy, among women and empower them in this endeavour.

She called upon the delegation members to initiate gender “Re­sponsive Budgeting” on the basis of available desegregated data.

The Minister also stated that C;ender Responsive Budgeting be given to Sindb as well.

Ms. Nadira Panjwani further called for continuation of Women Political School Programme as well in view of the success it achieved in Sindh province that helped in training of some 28,000 councilors, Naib Nazims, from Union Council level to District level in the formation of budget and in the daily legislative responsibilities.

Earlier Ms. Seemi Kamal informed the Provincial Minister of the purpose of visiting Sindh province and said that UNDP had started this country programme for Pakistan in 2004 and it has four components and has the support of Government of Pakistan. She further informed that under Gender Justice Component through Musalihat Anjuman a pilot project has been taken up in Shikarpur District of Sindh Province.
