HYDERABAD, April 13 (PPI): A 3-day journalism training workshop organized by Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF) at Latifabad, concluded on April12 evening.
A good number of participants were female who took keen interest in the training. Chief Editor of Pakistan Press International (PPI) and Vice Chairman of PPF, Fazal Qureshi who is also visiting professor of Mass Communication Department of Karachi University imparted training on various aspects and skills of writing news stories, features and articles for media.
He emphasized on female participants that nowadays women are doing jobs along side men in every field of life as such they should also work in print and electronic media. He told them that if few could not do full time job as working journalists they can write for newspapers, magazines etc on issues concerning their daily life by sitting at their homes.
He specified the elements, ethics and other things which were to be followed while writing features/ articles and added there was no dearth of topics on which they could write.
He said it was not binding on them that being women they can only write on issues being faced by female population but they can write on the civic problems and issues of their localities, their towns.
He also told them that PPF has set up a feature section at its Karachi office which was headed by a lady editor who edits the articles/features written and sent there by those who participate in PPF workshops and gets their works published in newspapers/magazines to encourage them.
Mr. qureshi specified rules and procedure of writing as beginners. The participants, who included also male working journalists, participated in practical article writing. Some of them wrote articles on topics like the condition of prisoners especially women inmates and infants who were languishing in prisons.
