ISLAMABAD: Failing to get allotment of a government residence, a joint secretary of federal ministry of petroleum & natural resources threatened the lady state officer of ministry of housing and works of dire consequences that prompted the desperate lady to lodge a complaint with Kohsar police station against the former.

According to sources, Joint Secretary Amer Sheikh, tried to influence a lady estate officer of ministry of housing and works to bypass general waiting list and allot him a residence in the federal capital.
The lady officer refused to violate the rules and regulations and asked him to wait for his turn.
This made the joint secretary furious and he threatened Naseem Qureshi, the lady estate officer, of dire consequences, said the sources.

“It all started when I refused to relax general waiting list to allot him a government residence in Islamabad. The furious man entered my office without taking permission and teased me a lot, besides threatening to kill me,” the desperate lady estate officer told a duty officer of Kohsar police station on Tuesday.

When contacted, a police officer of Kohsar police station confirmed the incident and said they have received the complaint and investigation was under way.

When contacted by this correspondent at his office landline number 051-9201501, Amir Sheikh chose to remain silent. A message was conveyed to him through his personal assistant requesting to return a call.

The officer did not bother to return a call until filing of this report.

“Sir is busy in a meeting. I have conveyed your message to him,” one of his PAs said.

A wave of fear and anger spread across the female officers of ministry of housing and works.

They asked the government to take concrete steps to stop harassment and discrimination of the female officers in the government offices.
