JIT formed to recover abducted Hindu girl Priya Kumari

Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar, taking notice of the kidnapping of Hindu girl Priya Kumari, daughter of Raju Mal, has ordered the formation of a joint investigation team (JIT) to rescue the girl.

Officials said on Tuesday the JIT would be headed by Mirpurkhas DIG Javed Jaskani. The other members of the JIT are Hyderabad SSP Amjad Sheikh, Shaheed Benazirabad SSP Tanveer Tannu and two DSPs.

Sindh IGP Ghulam Nabi Memon has nominated the DSPs for the JIT, which has been directed to submit its report within three weeks. A notification issued in this regard reads, “The Government of Sindh, Home Department, is pleased to constitute a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) for the purpose of investigation for tracing out missing baby Pirya Kumari d/o Raju Mal Hindu, as per request of Inspector General of Police Sindh Karachi vide letter dated April-1, 2024.”

Her father told The News last month that on August 19, 2021, his seven-year-old daughter disappeared on the Day of Ashura, from Sabeels set up in the Sanghrar village of the Saleh Pat Tehsil in District Sukkur.
