PESHAWAR: The women wing of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has announced to observe ‘Hijab Day’ in the province on Saturday by arranging various programmes to raise awareness about the importance ofpurdah.
Addressing a news conference hereon Wednesday, member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly from JI, Rashda Riffat said legislation against purdah had been made in different countries of the world and the veil-observing Muslim women were subjected to torture and harassment there.
She said defending the Islamic rituals was the duty of every Muslims. She said that purdah was not an impediment to development and veil-observing women were running the affairs of the JI women wing.She said that ‘Hijab Day’ was observed at international level on September 4.
