ISO female students protest against Islamophobia

KARACHI: Female students of the Imamia Students Organisation (ISO) staged a demonstration on Sunday against the murder of an Egyptian Muslim woman, called Marwa el-Sherbini in a courtroom in Germany.
They called her ‘hijab martyr’ because she was branded as a ‘terrorist’ by her neighbour for wearing a traditional Muslim headscarf and she had sought justice against it.
The female students gathered outside Karachi Press Club against the Sherbini’s murder. They lifted Sherbini’s portraits and placards inscribed with slogans including ‘Marwa’s murder in a German Court is an example of Islamophobia in the West’ and ‘Marwa’s murder exposed the US and Europe’s hatred of Muslims’.
Speaking at the protest demonstration, ISO Talebat Karachi Chapter Official Shireen demanded that the German government execute Sherbini’s murderer and try the security personnel over their negligence.
She said that on the one hand, murderer openly stabbed an innocent Muslim woman to death and on the other, the security personnel in the courtroom fired at Sherbini’s husband.
“Neither the US nor the EU condemned the gory nor has macabre killing that shaken whole of the humanity, let alone the Muslim world. Not a single statement from the United States and the European nations, why,” she expressed surprise.
The ISO official said that criminal and inhuman silence of the US and European governments, even after an entire week has passed after the murder, have uncovered their real faces.
The ISO female wing adopted a resolution that demanded the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) and the United Nations (UN) to take notice of the murder.
