District and Sessions Judge Zakir Hussain has issued a show-cause notice to Investigation Officer (IO) Sabir to submit a challan by June 30 in the gang-rape case within the Mazar-e-Quaid premises.
The court has, in the past, issued several show-cause notices to the IO but he is yet to comply. He was also asked to produce three other accused involved in the case.
An 18-year-old woman from Lodhran was gang-raped in the vicinity of Quaid’s mausoleum on the night of March 9. She was found in a precarious condition outside the mausoleum on March 17. The police registered A case under Section 365/B inserted into the PPC through the Protection of Women Act-2006. Three suspects were arrested after a DNA report confirmed their involvement and through an identification parade which was conducted in the court.
Security guard Khadim Hussain, Accountant Mazar Raja Arif and Assistant to Resident Engineer at the mausoleum Arif Ansar have been arrested after the incident.
