Inspector General of Police orders inquiry against Rawalpindi cop allegedly involved in torturing woman

RAWALPINDI – A woman appeared before Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Ahsan Younas in an open court held on Thursday lodging a complaint that a police officer of Rawalpindi police stormed into her house under influence of alcohol and beat her black and blue in front of her young daughters.

The applicant namely Uzma Mansoor also alleged that it has become a routine that Sub Inspector Sardar Pervaiz, who was serving as station house officer police station Morgah in Rawalpindi district, enters her house and places her under severe torture.

She appealed to the Islamabad police chief to take action against the accused police officer.

IG Muhammad Ahsan Younas referred the matter to Station House Officer Police Station Shalimar directing him to summon the accused and to hold inquiry into allegations.

Meanwhile, dozens of citizens also appeared before IG in an open court and lodged complaints against the police officers. IG issued on the spot orders to subordinates to resolve public issues.

A foreign national of Pakistani origin Asif tabled an application that powerful land mafia had grabbed his 400 kanals of land in Bhimber Tarar and sought legal action against the grabbers.

Another citizen brought into the notice of IG that he was a survivor of the October 2005 earthquake and had purchased 91 kanals of land in capital which was illegally occupied by land mafia.

The IG forwarded the complaints to AIG Anti Land Grabbing Committee to solve the issues. A female educational consultant told IG that an assistant sub inspector of PS Bharakahu is involved in occupying the keys of her house on which the capital police chief ordered SDPO Bharakahu Zone to take action against the accused police officer. IG also ordered the authorities concerned to give house to the wife and daughter of a martyred cop.

He also ordered recruitment of 20-year-old son of a policeman in the police department.
