Govt decides to launch Benazir Women Support Programme

Karachi: The Sindh government has decided to launch the Shaheed Benazir Women Support Programme (SBWSP) aimed at supporting poor women in the province.

This was decided at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah at the CM House on Friday.

The CM stressed for proper monitoring and complete implementation of the programme so that poor women could benefit from the project. He said that the Sindh government has approved a cash grant of Rs. 1,000 per month for about 500,000 women on quarterly basis.

It was further informed that a briefing with regards to the Shaheed Benazir Women Support Programme would soon be given to President Asif Ali Zardari or Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani.

The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary (Development) Munawar Opal, Principal Secretary to CM Syed Sohail Akbar Shah, Provincial Secretary Finance Fazalullah Pechuho and others.
