‘Government likely to fire Gambat cops’

Karachi: The Sindh government is likely to fire the policemen, who forced a couple to parade naked in public in Gambat city, the provincial law minister said on Wednesday.

“Police authorities have issued show-cause notices to the policemen for terminating their services,” Muhammad Ayaz Soomro said while presenting a report about the incident during a provincial assembly session.

“The man and woman were paraded naked in a bazaar. The policemen who did that have been arrested.”

The law minister also informed the House that the federal law ministry had prepared a draft law for the protection of minorities, especially against forced conversion, and opinions had been sought from the four provinces for that purpose.
