MULTAN: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Multan announced the result of Intermediate Annual Examination, 2012 here on Saturday, declaring 37,391 candidates successful out of a total of 69,655. The overall success ratio in the examination stood at 53.68 per cent.Meher Fatima (Roll No 506336) of Nishat College of Science for Girls, Multan clinched first position with 1,031 marks while the second position was shared by three students namely Muhammad Suhaib Qasim (Roll No 504822) of Punjab College of Information Technology, Multan, Zaira Shahid (Roll No 506013) of Nishat College of Science for Girls and Mand Nayab Zahra (Roll No 517320) of Punjab College for Women. Each of them secured 1,029 marks.

The third position was taken away by Areeb Tariq (Roll No 515953) of Rise College of Science with 1,028 marks.The result ceremony was chaired by Punjab Auqaf Minister Haji Ehsan Uddin Qureshi, who distributed cash prizes among the position-holders later on. PRE-MEDICAL GROUP: A total of 7585 candidates appeared in the examination under this group and 6042 got through with 79.65 per cent success ratio. The overall first position holder Meher Fatima topped this group while overall second position holders Muhammad Sohaib Qasim and Zaira Fatima stood second. The third position was shared by five students including four girls namely Rida Fatima (Roll No 505720), Azka Zafar (Roll No 502327), Rimsha Zafar (Roll No 502346), Beenish Javed (Roll No505856) and Muhammad Humayun Rasheed (Roll No 504596). Each of them secured 1027 marks. PRE-ENGINEERING GROUP: AS many as 9014 students took examination under this group and 6542 qualified, constituting 72.57 per cent pass percentage.

The overall second position holder Nayab Zahra led the group with 1,029 marks while the overall third position holder Areeb Tariq Stood second with 1,028 marks. The third place was clinched away by Osama Naseer (Roll No 515744) with 1,022 marks. GENERAL SCIENCE GROUP: The success ratio in this group stood at 52.58 per cent as 2,920 out of total 5,553 candidates could pass the examination. Al the three top positions in this group were clinched away by girls.

Anum Hassan (Roll No 524372) stood first with 1002 marks while Sana Alvi (Roll No 524385) grabbed second position with 993 marks and Aliza Mustafa (Roll No 522039) took away third position with 979 marks. Commerce GroupA total of 5462 students appeared in the examination under this group and 3007 were declared successful with 55.05 per cent success ratio.

Fatima Ahmad (Roll No 534761) topped the group with 979 marks while Mahnoor Khawaja (Roll No 534807) stood second with 975 and Arshia Sharif (Roll No 534737) third with 965.HUMANITIES GROUP: The highest number of candidates 42,041 took examination under this category and constituted the lowest success ratio-44.90-among all groups. The position table in this group was also overwhelmed by girls as all the three top slots were grabbed by them. Nausheen Mumtaz (Roll No 541087) stood first with 961 marks, Ameena Fatima (Roll No 570205) second with 955 and Hafiza Asma Sakhawat (Roll No 564845) third with 951.
