TOBA TEK SINGH, Oct 7: The city police claimed on Tuesday having rescued a girl from Rahim Yar Khan where she had been sold after being abducted from Toba Tek Singh almost one year ago.
The city police said Akbar, a resident of Chak 290-JB, informed them that his 24-year-old daughter visited market for shopping on Dec 26, 2007, and was abducted from the general bus stand.
He said he received his daughter’s call a few days ago from a cell phone, saying that Abdul Sattar alias Boota Jat of Toba village (Chak 384-JB) had abducted her and sold her to a man of Rahim Yar Khan for Rs40,000.
The girl informed her father, the police said, that the buyer had kept her at Adda Fatehpur Punjabian and allowed her no means of communication. She claimed that she had been calling from a servant’s cell phone. Akbar said in the application that he contacted a village jury to intervene and ask the suspect to return the girl, but he went into hiding despite making a commitment.
He said he later learnt that Boota was also involved in a dacoity and women trafficking cases.
The police arrested Boota Jat and took him to Rahim Yar Khan from where they recovered the girl. On his information, the police also captured Majeed of Rahim Yar Khan and Bashir Maseeh, both of who abetted the crime, instituting a case against the three under section 365-B. The police obtained their physical remand from a local judicial magistrate.
The police said during investigation the arrested men confessed to abducting and selling many other girls from various districts.
