LAHORE: A married girl was shot dead by her father and brother in the name of ‘honour’ in the Islampura area on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Humaira, daughter of Muhammad Ashraf of the Sanda area.
The police said that accused Muhammad Ashraf and his son Akhtar had nursed a grudge against Humaira after she married her ex-brother-in-law, Amjad, who divorced his first wife Shazia, the elder sister of Humaira.
Humaira was sitting in her lawyer’s car and waiting for recording her statement under Section 164 CrPC when Ashraf and Akhtar allegedly shot her dead. Both accused escaped from the scene. Police have registered a case against them and shifted the body to morgue.
